BREKETE FAMILY PROGRAMME SATURDAY 23RD DECEMBER 2023
The program commenced in its customary manner, featuring an insightful address by the Ordinary President. The focus was on the plight of the Bakasi people, whose territory, belonging to Nigeria, had been ceded to another country. The Ordinary President highlighted the challenges faced by the Bakasi people and expressed concern over Nigeria’s responsibilities toward them. Additionally, he acknowledged the positive strides made by the country of Niger in achieving self-sustainability, thereby reducing dependence on Nigeria.
An update was provided on Lawal Usman’s case, the Fulani man from Enugu, who accused Chukwudi John, the brother of a former governor, of orchestrating an attack that led to the death of 74 cows.
The program then addressed the case of a woman who claimed to have been married to Inspector Yawala Titus for 15 years. She lamented the lack of support from her husband, detailing how their marital issues had led them to the police. An agreement was reached at the police station for Inspector Yawala Titus to send N20,000 to her monthly, a commitment that he fulfilled only for a few months before abruptly stopping. Frustrated, she sought assistance from the Brekete family.
Following this, victims of one-chance incidents shared their harrowing experiences. The narratives were chilling, serving as a stark warning to exercise caution, especially during the current season. The Ordinary President emphasized the importance of sharing these stories to educate and raise awareness. He expressed dismay at the apparent reluctance of the police to address such matters promptly. The hope was expressed that, given the Ordinary President’s passionate stance, measures would be taken to ensure the safety of Abuja and uphold its reputation as one of the safest parts of the country.
The program concluded with a segment featuring telephone calls from both Nigerians within the country and abroad. Callers offered advice on how to effectively put an end to one-chance incidents, sharing their insights and laying out their complaints. This interactive session aimed to gather diverse perspectives and contribute to finding viable solutions to the issue at hand.
