In this video, the Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo during his visits to the brekete family, talks about the plan they have in place to rectify the issue of congestion (Overcrowding) in the Nigeria Prisons.
The minister of Interior while explaining said the Nigeria Correctional center is his “baby” because according to him, “the Integrity of a government is how well the government protects the weakest in the society”. He went further to say that more than 70% of the Inmates in the prisons today are awaiting trial and they have not been sentenced yet.
He said they’re working and are making effort to see that about 4000 inmates who are on trial will be sorted so as to free up space in the prison. As he went on advising Nigerians to be a country of optimist and not a country of pessimist.
